Aderin-Pocock Academy
Creating an accessible learning space for students with dyslexia
Growth in education for all
Project background
Aderin-Pocock Academy is a fictional middle school for dyslexic students.
For this project, I was tasked by my professor to design a landing page for a fictional client with this prompt:
"We are educators and entrepreneurs focused on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) education for disadvantaged students. We provide scholarships and opportunities to underserved youth, entirely funded by philanthropy. Our goal is to identify committed students and families to build a better future."
My target audience was inspired by my internship as a teacher assistant for special education students at Harper Middle School in Davis, CA.

1st iteration
Low-fi wireframe establishing layout
My initial prototype sets the fun and inviting tone for the landing page. In this phase, I'm outlining the essential information for parents considering applying to the academy.
⭐ Peer feedback:
-
Lacks visual elements
-
Too text-heavy, font sizes are too similar
-
Lacks variety, nothing quite stands out

Where did my inspiration come from?
Behind the academy's name
My landing page is inspired by Dr. Maggie Aderin-Pocock, a space scientist diagnosed with dyslexia at 8. Despite academic challenges, her love for space led her to degrees in Physics and Mechanical Engineering.
Now a Science Educator and founder of Science Innovation Ltd, she has motivated over 350,000 students to follow their dreams and "desire to aspire."
